I really don't have anything to say. Yet, I have to post a blog. Sound familiar? The taunting flashing bar waiting for your input, the oh-so inviting "generate text" button hovering in the Shopify toolbar....but no.
I won't ever use AI in my business - not for my own content, not for my clients' content, not even for simple things like emails or whatever. I want my writing to be my writing, whether I'm writing in a different voice to suit my clients' needs or whether I'm writing an instagram caption.
It might be easy for this blog post to be a rant about AI, but I've already done one of those - you can read my AI rant, or ignore it. Or ignore this entire post, if you choose. Writing blog posts for my clients is sometimes much easier than writing them for myself. This is partially why I have a business at all - I know my clients often struggle to write their own content, too.
Writing something that might be interesting for the Google algorithm is also a complicated task, which of course I've covered in my Ultimate Guide to Blogging for SEO. One of the major takeaways from the guide (here, free! now advice, free!) is that even if your blog isn't specifically optimised with keywords to bring in new traffic, as long as you include innerlinks to the other parts of your website so that you reinforce your existing content strategy, you'll be doing great.
As such, as an expert in SEO for small creative businesses, one of the strategies I use is to just write whatever and put some innerlinks in there. This is by no means as efficient as also writing a blog that is useful to read or brings in more traffic, but it's better than nothing. And as they say, better done than perfect!
I've begun working on a marketing plan for 2025, where I will have more constant blog posts, more interesting topics, and more keyword infused articles. Hopefully this will not only bring new readers into the site, but also entertain and inform those who want to learn about SEO.
If you're interested in Faire SEO you should also check out the guide, it's a great way to get your products in front of new buyers on the platform - everyone else is already doing it, which is probably why your products aren't being seen as much as theirs, so get on board!
